So a while ago I took the plunge and purchased my first ever Estee Lauder Double Foundation (Thanks to a recommedation from the lovely Mariska from The Secret Board). Let me tell you that I haven’t look back once since the day I purchased that beauty! Because I purchased two Estee Lauder products from Red Square, due to a promotion they were running I got the most delightful goodie bag of cosmetics as a gift. This gal just loves anything free and we all know that freebies from Estee Lauder are worth a pretty penny! Alongside an amazing little Modern Muse sample, a lipliner, eye cream sample and more, I received a beautiful little bottle of liquid gold: the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum.
So what’s the fuss with the Advanced Night Repair Serum?
From the very first drop I used I knew I was falling in love. You basically take a few drops and that is enough to rub over your whole face. Your skin will drink up the serum immediately without leaving your skin feeling oily – it’s incredible!
If you’re still not sure what the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Serum is for, it is a facial serum that reduces the signs of ageing. Estee Lauder’s cult classic, it maximises the power of skin’s natural nighttime renewal with their exclusive ChronoluxCB™ Technology. This crowd favorite was originally launched in 1982! It’s been adapted over time but women all over the world have been loving this product for 36 years. One year they sold even over 1.3 million bottles!
This elixir works to reduce the appearance of visible damage and works to slow down the appearance of ageing. Our skin is constantly exposed to a harsh environment, which can leave it looking and feeling dull or lifeless. This product restores your skin’s youthfulness and natural glow. I’ve actually even seen some reviews online of users that say it has helped reduce acne scars as well as rosacea.
First thoughts when applying it
So when applying it I noted the formula is thin, lightweight and absorbs very quickly on the skin. The scent is light and doesn’t irritate or interfere with your perfumes etc. My skin can be very dehydrated at times and I literally feel like my skin drinks this product up. I’ve been using the little travel sized sample for a few weeks now and have seen a noticeable difference in my complexion.
According to Estee Lauders website, many women who have trialled this product have said it is fantastic for radiance, redness and inflammation. I haven’t used it for the latter two but judging by how well it has helped my complexion and skin texture I can only imagine it’s great for redness and inflammation too.
What will this set me back?
While you won’t need to ask FNB for a loan, you probably will need to forgo all late night McDonalds trips for a couple of months. This little baby costs R850 for 30ml or R1175 for 50ml.
Other uses for Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum
- You can mix it into your foundation for extra hydration if your skin is feeling a bit dry
- You can add a few drops into your moisturizer if your moisturizer is a bit heavy
- For a glowy appearance, you can add it on top of your finished makeup
- Apply to your lips for a glossy and moisturised look, or apply to lips overnight if they’re feeling a bit dry
So who does this product suit?
Estee Lauder say they have designed this product with all women in mind. It’s also not just made for individuals who already seen signs of ageing. Also, its non-comedogenic, oil-free and fragrance-free formula makes it suitable for oily and sensitive skin too

Do you know, I have loved every thing I’ve tried from Estee Lauder EXCEPT for this. I had two of these little vials (and they last for a while as you only use a tiny amount). I used them one after the other as I was sure that was enough product for me to get a really good idea if it was something worth splurging on.
I had ZERO difference in my skin, no change in hydration or texture or anything. Perhaps I should have just applied it more generously, but then I’d be going through a full size in less than a month, which doesn’t make it worth it to me.
Perhaps my skin was in a bad place at the time, and if I tried it now we’d get along famously. But I just have NO clue why it was just a meh product for me. So disappointing.

Hi Siobhan 🙂 hope you had a lovely weekend! This is so interesting:):) It’s crazy how two people can have such a different experience with 1 product. Maybe it was exactly what my skin needed at that point in time – or maybe it was my particular skin texture? It’s quite a pricy product though so it’s definately not something worth spending on unless it really works for your skin. What are your other top skincare products? I’m always on the lookout for new things to try!xxx
It makes me so super happy every time I hear you are so delighted with your EL foundation! So glad I now have a fellow Estee Lauder twinsy! xx Really loved and enjoyed this detailed post and your tips for other uses of this product. Your pictures are phenomenal too!

Hahaha yes I just love it. Honestly such great coverage. I think I will look at purchasing a nice BB cream for those days when I want something lighter though. But honestly haven’t been this happy for years, and I was always such a HUGE MAC fan!
