One thing I am very lucky to have is super thick hair. Volume has never been something I have struggled with! In fact, the products I look for in the shops generally have the words “anti-frizz”, “sleek” and “taming” in them. However, one thing I really do struggle with is dry ends that feel brittle. Especially over winter. My grows so quickly as well, so if I’m not battling regrowth I’m trying to get my hair to be softer and sleeker. So when I found the Dove Nourishing Oil Care Treatment Mask for R79 from Clicks, I was intrigued to try it. When I first tried it, it was last winter and hair was so dry and rough on the ends. I immediately realized this was a product I’d have as a regular in my bathroom cabinet to get my hair soft, silky and manageable.
DOVE NOURISHING OIL CARE TREATMENT MASK
Dove Nourishing Oil Care Deep Repair Treatment Mask
Product: Dove Nourishing Oil Care Deep Repair Treatment Mask 200ml is specially formulated with light nutri-oils to deeply nourish severely dry hair and restore lost moisture and shine without weighing it down. Helps to banish hair roughness and controls frizz. It is formulated with Weightless Nutri Oils and vitamins E and F to treat your hair. The Dove Nourishing Oil Care Deep Repair Treatment mask promises to instantly smooth the surface of your hair. The formula is said to nourish each strand from the inside and leave your hair super smooth and shiny.
Formula: The formula a creamy-yellow and is very thick as you would expect from a hair mask. It is formulated with weightless Nutri Oils and Vitamins E & F to your hair and give it some nourishment. The formula is also non-greasy and is suitable for daily use should you use to do so. (I use it once per week though!).
Hair types: According to Dove, this is most suitable for fizzy and unruly hair as well as dry hair needing some nourishment. If your hair also gets really knotty like mine, this product will really help with detangling.
Fragrance: This product has little fragrance, it smells very similar to most hair conditioners.
Packaging: The packaging is a odd-shaped 200ml tub. At times I find putting the lid on quite cumbersome due to the odd shape. A simple round might be more effective.
Use: When it comes to using a hair mask, I use it in replacement of a conditioner maybe once per week. I only put a five rand coin size blob about half-way down my hair and try to leave it on for about five minutes. Honestly, sometimes I’ve even applied this to dry hair so that I can let it soak for around 15 minutes before hopping into the shower and that has worked too.
“This is a simple, no fuss hair mask that is easy on your pocket!”
Price: It is currently on special for R63,99 from Clicks but usually retails for R79,99.
What did I think? I really enjoyed this product. I’ve always loved beauty but hair care is something I know I need to up my game on. My poor hair has never really gotten too much attention! So I thought it was high-time I started testing and finding some products that would get my hair in better condition. When I use this mask, my hair feels noticeably different and softer. I’m not sure if it is noticeably less frizzy, but it’s definitely soft and smooth and MUCH more manageable. My hair gets really knotty!
Will I buy this product again? Yes. My hair is dry and rough on the ends, and when I use this in replacement of my usual conditioner I can see a noticeable difference. It is also reasonably priced and one can get many uses from one tub! The Dove Nourishing Oil Care Treatment Mask is a thumbs up from me.
Overall Score: 8/10
I honestly love Dove hair products! They seem to work well for my hair.
