The Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Fig Eau de Toilette is a burst of spring!

Elizabeth Arden perfumes have a sentimental attachment for me. My first job back in high school was working as a promoter. Sometimes I promoted Russell Hobbs toasters or pepper grinders. Sometimes I promoted chicken fillets on special. Luckily after a while I moved up in the ranks and started promoting beauty brands – specifically Elizabeth Arden. That’s actually where my love for Elizabeth Arden started! The first perfume I was ever put in charge of promoting was the iconic Green Tea. So when I was recently sent the Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Fig – the newest member of the Green Tea family, it had a nostalgic meaning for me!

The Green Tea range from Elizabeth Arden has been around since 1999. The original Green Tea was a citrus aromatic fragrance for women with top notes of bergamot, lemon zest and fruity rhubarb. However, over the years Elizabeth Arden have frequently bought out exciting variations of the original. And recently, we said hello to Green Tea Fig.

Delightful. Sweet. Simple.

Whimsical and airy – introducing the Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Fig

The Green Tea Fig was created to transport you to a rustic countryside ambience full of warmth and laughter. Think whimsy, light and airy but not overly sweet or too fruity. It’s really fitting because I took it with me on a recent countryside getaway!

“Oh Sunlight! The most precious gold to be found on Earth.” – Roman Payne. Took my Green Tea Fig on a little spring getaway and it was amazingly fresh! The citrus notes hit all the right spots – it’s fruity but with the base notes of musk it still has great depth and isn’t too light.

Inspired by the fig tree as a symbol of peace and prosperity, Green Tea Fig is the delightful, sweet and simple accent to every look. Top notes of Fig and Ivy Leaves intermingle with citrus nuances to uplift your spirit. It also has delightful Green Tea Accord and Kadota Fig to place you in a carefree atmosphere; allowing you to leave all of your troubles behind with comforting finishing touches of Musk and Clary Sage.

The Green Tea Fig Notes

I think the bottle is really gorgeous, especially when it catches the summer light. This perfume has really surprised me!

The Green Tea Fig comes in a beautiful transparent glass bottle with green leaves and purple fig artwork wrapped around. The bottle is gorgeous, and looks so beautiful when it catches the sunlight! It has a sturdy lid as well.

Price

The Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Fig retails for R445.00 for 100 ml. Pretty reasonable for a perfume, hey?!

My thoughts

To be honest, when I first thought of fig perfume I was a little unsure what to expect. Would it be deep and musky, or fruity and overly sweet? I personally don’t like very sweet perfumes, but was pleasantly surprised with this scent. I really think that the Elizabeth Arden scents are incredibly priced.

In terms of staying power, I’d say the scent lingered for around 4 to 5 hours and then became lighter – which I don’t think is too bad. I actually recently learnt why citrus scented perfumes dissipate quicker than musky ones. Just like everything in life, perfume is made of molecules. Smaller molecules, like the ones that make up citrus scents, get oxidized quickly because they have fewer electrons to give away. So that is why citrus scents dissipate so quickly! (Little random fact for the day!)

The Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Fig was a surprise love for me. I’ll definitely be grabbing this perfume more in the future. I feel like it has a fabulous balance between feminine and strong! I also think this perfume is suitable for day or night wear.
