I think if you had to ask any given lady in South Africa what is a trustworthy and effective beauty brand, many would say Nivea. Not only have their products stood the test of time, they actually work. Throughout the years I have tried and repurchased many Nivea products (and they offer a great men’s range too!) and have loved seeing some of their recent launches. I was especially excited when I heard that the Nivea Cellular Anti-Age had transformed into the Nivea Hyaluron Cellular Filler Range, because I knew it was going to be a goodie.
Introducing the Nivea Hyaluron Cellular Filler
The Nivea Hyaluron Cellular Filler is proven to stimulate skin cells to produce their own Hyaluronic Acid and Collagen. This will result in a more youthful look – meaning wrinkles being filled in and a clear improvement in the skin’s firmness with continued use.
Key Ingredients
The key ingredients in the range are Hyaluronic Acid and Magnolia Extract. Magnolia Extract helps to prevent the loss of skin elasticity, reduce reddening of the skin and repair fine lines and the start of wrinkles. Additionally, it also helps to increase the skin cells’ resistance to external stresses and inflammation. (Which us ladies are all encountering on a daily basis!)
Understanding the role of Hyaluronic Acid
I know these terms can sometimes be so confusing! I often receive messages asking about these different acids and surely acid is bad for your skin?! Fear not, friends! This is not acid in the context we use in our everyday life. Much like my blog post explaining Glycolic Acid, hyaluronic acid is your friend and not your enemy at all!
Hyaluronic Acid is actually a molecule that occurs naturally in many parts of our body and helps to increase the tissues’ ability to bind water. When we are younger, our bodies are very rich in natural Hyaluronic Acid and are able to replenish it daily. This is why young people have such firm and hydrated skin! (Pfftt..they don’t realise what how lucky they are!!) However, as we grow older we lose the ability to produce enough Hyaluronic Acid. This leads to a loss of water in the skin as well as a loss of volume, ultimately leading to fine lines and wrinkles.
How is the NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler different from other products containing ingredients similiar to these?
Dr. Svenja Möllgaard who is a Lab Manager for Formula-Development NIVEA Face Care, Research & Development, Beiersdorf AG explains why NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler is so unique and effective:
“Many anti-age creams provide the skin with an instant, visible effect. However, they often only work superficially without a lasting effect. NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler is the first anti-age performance range that helps the skin to help itself by stimulating the skin cells to produce their own Hyaluronic Acid and Collagen, as tests on an in vitro reconstructed skin model have shown. The skin was treated with Cellular active ingredients, and compared to untreated skin, which proved that it works. And this is great, as your own Hyaluron is the best.”
Who is the targeted age group?
I saw on a post by Candice from In My Bag, that the Nivea Hyaluron Cellular Filler is best suited for women who have visible signs of ageing, (most likely aged between 33-55 or older). However, she also mentions that all skin is different, and that one should start using anti-ageing products when you feel your skin needs it. So, it could be younger or older.

First Impressions
- The first thing that stood out to me was the smell – it was the traditional Nivea, light scent that is so familiar with their brand. It’s in now way overpowering at all!
- The day and night creams are nourishing, but not greasy. I love that because my skin tends towards oiliness, so greasy products don’t help at all!
- The eye cream feels very nourishing on your delicate skin around the eye! The formula is very creamy, and the skin around my eyes felt instantly moisturized
- When I use the serum before bed, my skin felt very soft and hydrated in the morning. I’m looking forward to using this regularly and seeing the results!
I’m looking forward to using some of these products on a more continued basis, so look out for some upcoming reviews!

I think I definitely need to try this range! I haven’t tried much of Nivea skincare products
