Skincare and beauty can be hefty expensive sometimes. It’s even worse when skincare and beauty are your hobby in life (Ahem..me!) and where trips to Dischem or Clicks are like therapy for you. My poor husband knows a trip to one of these stores will never result in leaving with only one intended item. But rather will contain a myriad of deals that I just had to get. So when I come across affordable beauty products that are worth their salt, I know it’s only fair to spread the love and let you guys in!

Some affordable beauty products I’ve been loving lately. Who doesn’t love a bargain buy!
Six affordable beauty products I’m enjoying this month
Cherubs Eco-Facial Wipes for Sensitive and Dry Skin
The Cherubs Eco-Facial wipes are a fantastic option for removing makeup quickly. You guys know I am very strict about removing makeup! I mostly use Cleansing Balm (I have a review up on my favorite which is Body Shop Chamomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter) but when one is a rush or travelling, facial wipes can be really helpful! I haven’t found many that aren’t harsh on my skin, but these ones I really enjoyed.
What seals the deal for me with that is that they are biodegradable! We’re all looking for ways to be kinder to the environment, and here is one right here! They are the first brand in South Africa to do this. A big pack of 60 wipes costs R44.95 from Dischem, which is very reasonably priced and definitely fits the “affordable beauty products” category!
I love that these are also very lightly fragranced, are pH balanced and are alcohol and paraben free. They also contain chamomile, which is soothing for sensitive skin.
Oh So Heavenly Tissue Oil Repairing Hand Cream
Hand cream is something I plough through in the winter. My hands really dry out terribly in the Cape Town cold! So, I like to keep hand creams around the house, in my handbag and in my car. The Oh So Heavenly Tissue Oil Repairing Hand Cream has been in my handbag recently, and I love it because it’s not oily.
The hand cream is enriched with Vitamin A and E as well as Tissue Oil. The tissue oils help to replenish and rehydrate dry skin and leave it feeling more supple. Another plus is that I find this cream very fast absorbing. Did I mention it’s R29,99? Sold.
Beaucience Botanicals Exfoliating Cream
I LOVE supporting local brands and recently was introduced to Beaucience. Beaucience is a proudly South African brand that make use of natural oils and innovative botanicals to ensure healthy, young, glowing skin. The products are also free from any chemical contaminants (parabens, toxins and synthetic oils).
This exfoliating cream contains none of those nasty plastic microbeads of the past. Honey, those are so bad for the environment! No, this product uses Rosehip powder and Apricot Seed Powder to provide a gentle but effective exfoliation. These powders are hard enough to exfoliate but soft enough not to scratch the skin – which is great because some physical exfoliators can be very abrasive! This product contains essential oils such as neroli, geranium and ylang ylang, so isn’t drying at all. My skin always feels very gently exfoliated after using this, and because of the cream-like texture it feels moisturized as well.
Beaucience is not available at your typical stores like Clicks and Dischem, but you can buy online from Takealot. This particular cream is currently on special for R71 (Normally retails around R90)
Catrice Prime and Fine Primer
I actually bought this product a few months ago but initially wasn’t wowed. I don’t know why, but it didn’t blow my hair back. However, I think my initial thoughts were a little premature. I turned back to this product a few weeks ago when I ran out of my other primer, and I was actually pleasantly surprised. It really does give a matte look and helps your skin to not look oily throughout the day.
I tested it on a few days with and without the primer, and you really can see a difference in how long the makeup lasts and how it sits on your face at the end of the day. The primer is lightweight and a great option to use on a daily basis. Between this and the Maybelline Baby Skin, you have two fabulous options for affordable primers.
Loving Touch Glam Disposable Razors
Loving Touch products are extremely well priced and work as well as some of the other “high end” razor brands. When you hold these razors in your hands they feel sturdy (not like some of the junky plastic disposable that feel like they are going to snap!). I find the razor easy to grip and control – some razors are a little harder to grip and manevour, which can lead to nicks. The lubicating strip also contains Aloe Vera and Vitamin E to help moisturise and soothe the skin.
The Loving Touch Glam Disposable Razors retail for R31,99 for 5. These days that hardly even gets you a cappuccino. Well definitely not if you’re an almond milk coffee drinker – then you’re looking at around R40!
Nivea Sunshine Love Shower Gel 250ml
I don’t know if it’s just me but I’m yet to find a Nivea body product I don’t like. For me, this brand kills it when it comes to shower products / body creams / etc etc. They are affordable, good quality and well formulated. This Sunshine Love Shower Gel is no exception – it’s another one of Nivea’s fabulous products that won’t disappoint you.
When I smelt this product for the first time it immediately took me back to summer. Sunshine Beach takes me back to summery beach days where I don’t look like a transparent ghost. I’ve actually seen some articles that say the product is actually infused with the fragrance of the bestselling Nivea Sun sunscreen! Over and above transporting you back to better days, the shower gel also contains notes of rose, white flower, orange blossom and vanilla.
I find these shower gels also make fantastic gifts, who doesn’t love receiving gorgeous smelling shower goodies?
So that sums up the products I’ve been loving this August! Let me know what affordable beauty products you’ve been loving lately.
Thanks for sharing, can I just say your pictures look awesome.
