Durbanville Hills Collectors Reserve Tasting experience

Cape Town is one of the most incredible cities in the world. Partly because there are a million lovely things to do. Partly because we have good coffee. Well, sorry to be the one to add another item to add to your “must try” list but I’ve found another gem. I recently experienced the Durbanville Hills Collectors Reserve Tasting experience and it was literally too fab not to share.

Durbanville Hills Collectors Reserve Tasting Experience

This was actually my first time visiting the Durbanville Hills estate (Shock, horror!).  I was immediately taken with how gorgeous the grounds are. The farm makes for a lovely excursion and is the perfect place to enjoy a lazy lunch and a good glass of vino. Additionally, if you enjoy learning about wine and the making process, you’ll love the cellar tour!

What is the Collectors Reserve?

The Collectors Reserve is a unique range of seven premium wines inspired by Cape Town’s radiant energy and creative demeanor.  Prominent landmarks in Cape Town were picked and a vibrant Capetonian artist, Theo Vorster, was commissioned to create corresponding artwork.. They asked him to transpire his vision and perspective of these landmarks onto each bottle. It’s safe to say he totally created something beautiful!

The tasting experience

To celebrate the Collectors Reserve, they have set up an intimate food and wine pairing experience. The offering is made up of seven wine and food pairings. The wine has been specially crafted by the winemakers and the food created to showcase the range’s versatility. Furthermore, this experience highlights the passionate connection between the winery and Cape Town.

The cost is R295.00 per person and includes a private cellar tour with a wine specialist, a unique Collectors Reserve interactive experience, as well as a food pairing with all seven of the Collectors Reserve wines. And if that isn’t enough- upon departure visitors get to choose their favorite bottle from the Collectors Reserve to take home. (The Cabernet Sauvignon snuck it’s way into my heart very quickly and was my take-home of choice!) The inclusion of that is just the cherry on top! I really think that this makes a great outing for family and friends, and is excellent value for money!

So, how was the food?

Firstly, I’m totally cheese-crazy and literally couldn’t get over how good the cheese ensemble was. Equally important to mention has to be the olive spread. Wow, I need to get my hands on that! The food and wine was beautifully paired and I can totally recommend this for your next wine adventure. Just make sure to invite me, please!
