In the past few months I’ve been for two microneedling sessions, which have been absolutely fantastic for my skin! I’ve been so happy with the results I’ve seen. However, we all know that microneedling can cause irritation and sensitivity on the skins surface. Microneedling creates a large number of tiny punctures on your face, Your body then responds by initiating repair and stimulating collagen formation. After microneedling it’s important to avoid using any irritating or harsh products. So when I discovered the Avene Soothing Moisture Mask I was one happy girl.

We’ve heard it some often – this French skincare stands tall above many others. But what is the secret? The magic in the Avene Soothing Moisture Mask, you ask? It lies in the composition of all the Avene products, which are made with a rich infusion of Avene’s famous Thermal Spring Water. This is no ordinary eau, though. Its calming and soothing properties and have been hailed by women all over the world that it helps with skin concerns like intolerance and extreme dryness.
Furthermore, their products are non-comedogenic (formulated not to block your pores), paraben free.
Why the Avene Soothing Moisture Mask works so well post needling
After micro needing, your skin feels super angry with you. It’s tight, sore and doesn’t want to be harassed any further, so using gentle products is really a must. Furthermore, you need to avoid anything with your AHA’s or BHA’s. That’s where the mask became my favorite product. When my skin felt tight or sensitive, I’d apply this morning and in the evening. It doesn’t set like many other masks, rather it sits like a creamy layer on top of your skin and slowly calms and soothes. But you feel it as soon as it’s applied – your skin calms down. I can imagine it actually might help to soothe your skin post sunburn! Additionally, the mask’s formula has been designed for maximum skin absorption, so you can really feel a difference in how soft your skin feels.
When it comes to dry or dehydrated skin, cream formulas are always fantastic for dry skin as they work to replenish hydration and restore the supple feeling.
For skin when it needs a hydrating boost
While I discovered this mask when I was in search of how to look after my skin post-needling, I’ve quickly incorporated it into my skincare routine whenever it needs a boost. If it’s looking dry, tired or dehydrated I use this that day.
How to use:
Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes then carefully remove excess product with a cotton pad. There is no need to rinse your after use.
Where to purchase
Avene products can be purchased from Dischem or Clicks. The mask retails for R250 FOR 50ml.
I love this mask! Went through 2 tubes of it and need a new one actually.
It’s fantastic as well if you apply a slightly smaller amount as an overnight mask – works like a bomb!
